A peek inside Chrissy McDonald’s picture-perfect home gives us the warmest welcome. The lifestyle blogger and designer admits that homemaking isn’t a quick and easy venture, but is a process that takes bit by bit of time. Through careful selection of details in a slow but sure manner, she’s created a pristine apartment in Sausalito. A dream shared with longtime boyfriend Daniel, and now brought to life!
Built in 1941, the structure stood during the war and once housed local ship builders. The lack of size, measuring 500 square feet, is surpassed by its character and ideal location, as well as the large living room space. From a not-so-attractive rental option that gave the initial impression that it needed a lot of work, the old apartment now looks fresh and bright. The choice of paint, small-scale furniture, and fairly neutral theme makes it definitely bigger and better. Space and every corner within every room has been fully maximized without giving off a cluttered appearance.
The white walls and ceilings with white beams elicit an overall pleasant atmosphere. Light drapes over the tall windows allow for natural light to enter the home. It’s beauty like no other whenever it touches the hardwood flooring matched with furniture crafted from nature’s elements.
An L-shaped light-hued denim couch with smooth fabric is lined with a display of throws in simple patterns. Beneath is a rug flaunting an exquisite pattern set atop a larger, textured plain rug that covers most of the living area. Across the sofa is a tv stand and rattan chair that’s set right beside the built-in bookshelf. Having only one side table, round and elegant in form, allows for more space in the room. A white desk paired with an eames style chair is situated facing the huge bay window, and there couldn’t be a more perfect spot!
n the bedroom is a queen-sized bed with a quilted headboard, cohesively paired with a small dresser and tiny nightstand. Like the rest of the home, white coats of paint surround the area. Lighting choices are admirable works of art in the unique bubble glass lamp base and stunning geometric star chandelier.
Few accents are seen within the clean walls of the home, yet every piece makes a striking statement. The simple round mirror near the doorway is simply beautiful, with lovely crafts and accessories hung below. Tall potted plants in woven baskets contribute to both aesthetics and creating a more breathable place.
